The properties of recycled paper and recycled board
Our recycled paper and recycled board is made of 100 percent used paper, protecting valuable resources such as trees and water. Due to their positive properties, recycled paper and recycled board are certified with the "Blue Angel" eco-label. This label is awarded to products that have been manufactured in a resource-saving manner from sustainable raw materials and which are easy to recycle.
Recycled paper has excellent opacity and increased paper volume, meaning the ratio of paper thickness and paper weight. At a sheet thickness of 0.39 mm and a paper weight of 300 gsm, the volume of recycled paper is 1.3 times higher.
Material description of recycled board and recycled paper
Recycled paper and recycled board have good printing properties. Designs stand out bright and clear in vivid colours with a dull appearance. The highly opaque paper prevents show-through of images, allowing both front and back to be printed. The ageing-resistant recycled material has a superior sturdy feel.
"Recycled paper is uncoated just like the offset type, and it is very large-pored and slightly coarse to the touch. For this reason, it literally takes in the ink during printing and produces saturated colours."
Tips on choosing recycled board and recycled paper
How are recycled paper and recycled board beneficial for the environment?
Both recycled paper and recycled board are made of used paper. This protects forests, reduces pollutants and has a lower environmental impact than other papers.
What does paper volume mean?
The paper volume describes the ratio of paper weight to paper thickness. As a rule of thumb, you can say that the higher the paper volume the better the surface feel. Example:
- Weight: 300 gsm
- 1-fold paper volume: The sheet thickness is 0.30 mm
- 1.3-fold paper volume: The sheet thickness is 0.39 mm
Which sheet thickness of recycled board and recycled paper is available?
In our online shop, we offer recycled board and recycled paper with 1.3 increased paper volume
