Frequently asked questions about flyer printing
How much does it cost to print flyers?
At Onlineprinters, the cost of your flyers depends on the quantity (from 25 copies), size, paper and options. You see the net price, including shipping within Germany, in real time in the product tiles and the configurator. The larger the print run, the lower the price per copy. Our economy paper with 130 gsm is particularly affordable. Extra charges apply, for example, to finishing, express production or same-day printing. The same goes for the ‘using offset printing’ option, corner rounding and the data check.
What quantities can I order?
At Onlineprinters, you can print flyers in quantities from 25 to 500,000 copies, depending on the paper. Choose your quantity from the list, or enter a larger quantity in the field provided. Exclusive flyers & leaflets and flyers with spot finish have their own limit of up to 2,500 copies.
How quickly can I get my flyers printed?
At Onlineprinters, you choose between standard production, express production and same-day printing. With same-day printing, your flyers are produced and dispatched on the same working day. Your print data and payment simply need to arrive in time. Same-day printing is not available for every paper or in combination with UV varnish. The configurator shows what is possible for your configuration and when your flyers will arrive. You can also choose express shipping at checkout.
Which paper is suitable for flyers?
At Onlineprinters, coated paper is usually the right choice for flyers. Choose 130 gsm for handouts, 170 gsm as our recommended standard or board-like 250 gsm for invitations and price lists. It comes glossy coated or silk coated and is PEFC-certified in every paper weight. You can write and stamp on offset paper. Recycled paper is made from 100% waste paper.
Can I also print custom sizes?
Yes. At Onlineprinters, you set the size yourself with free format selection: 7 to 21 cm wide and 9 to 31 cm high. Square flyers range from 98 to 297 mm. Round flyers come in diameters of 9.5, 14.8 or 21 cm. Oval flyers measure 9.5 × 14.5 cm, and inserts are 5% smaller than the standard sizes.
What is the difference between a flyer and a folded leaflet?
A flyer is a single, unfolded sheet, printed on one side (4/0) or both sides (4/4). A folded leaflet has up to 12 pages at Onlineprinters, which makes it ideal for programmes and product overviews. Popular folds include the letter, accordion and gate fold. You can find all versions under Folded leaflets.
What should I consider when designing a flyer?
Give your flyer a clear headline and one key message with a call to action. Make your contact details easy to find, such as your website or a QR code. Use the fonts and colours of your corporate design. Keep texts short and choose a font size that is easy to read. White space makes reading easier.

Flyer types by use: promotional, event, information and corporate flyers
For promotions, single-sided leaflets or double-sided flyers in A6 and A5 work well. DL or square sizes suit events. A folded leaflet holds plenty of information. For your corporate image, choose sturdy paper from 250 gsm or a finish.
Four flyer types and what they are best for:
Four flyer types and what they are best for:
- Promotional flyers for campaigns: print promotional flyers for discount campaigns and special offers. Single-sided leaflets or double-sided flyers in A6 (105 × 148 mm) or A5 (148 × 210 mm) are ideal. This classic advertising tool gets your message across at a glance.
- Event flyers: DL (105 × 210 mm) sits comfortably in the hand and works well in displays. Square flyers from 98 to 297 mm stand out with their shape. They leave room for the programme and date.
- Information flyers for customer communication: fit product details or instructions onto folded flyers. Print folded leaflets with fold types such as letter, accordion or gate fold.
- Corporate flyers: sturdy, board-like coated paper, a finish or our Exclusive flyers & leaflets range give your brand real presence. That way, your flyers work as your company's business card.
Paper, paper weight and printing method for flyers
For flyers, you can choose from seven paper types: coated paper, offset paper, recycled paper, recycled board, chromo board, laid paper and plastic film. The paper weights available depend on the paper and size.
The higher the paper weight, the sturdier the paper and the less shows through. For affordable flyers, choose coated paper with 130 gsm, ideal for leaflets and large print runs. 170 gsm is our recommended standard. 250 gsm feels board-like and suits invitations, menus and price lists.
Coated paper is available at no extra cost. Choose glossy coated for brilliant colours or silk coated for a subtle matt look with low glare. Offset paper has a rough surface you can write on. Laid paper has a textured feel. Recycled paper is made from 100% waste paper.
Plastic film is a good choice for outdoor flyers. It repels water, oil and grease, is tear-resistant and very durable.
All coated and offset papers, as well as recycled paper and board, are PEFC-certified. Chromo board, laid paper and plastic film are not. You can find the certificates under Certifications.
For flyer printing, you can choose between two printing methods. With ‘best value for money’, we decide by print run whether your flyers are printed digitally or in offset. With ‘using offset printing’, we always print in offset for an extra charge. We recommend this for very fine motifs and fonts, as colours can vary slightly in digital printing. For consistent print quality, we work to the Process Standard Offset (PSO).

Finishing flyers: UV varnish, relief varnish, hot foil and perforation

At Onlineprinters, you can finish your flyers all over with glossy UV varnish. Or choose a spot finish with UV varnish, relief varnish or hot foil stamping in gold or silver.
These finishes and extras are available:
These finishes and extras are available:
- Effect colours: add vibrant colour accents with effect colours from a dedicated product line.
- Full-surface UV varnish: glossy UV varnish on the front and back gives your flyer a brilliant shine. It is available depending on the paper, but cannot be combined with same-day printing.
- Spot finish: spot UV varnish adds tactile and visual highlights to lettering, a logo or an image. Relief varnish creates a clearly raised texture you can feel. Hot foil stamping shines in gold or silver. Only the front is finished, on 300 or 400 gsm coated paper or 270 gsm chromo board. Spot finishes are available up to 2,500 copies. - Perforation: for discount campaigns and competitions, choose our coupon flyers with perforation. Your customers simply tear off the coupon.

Setting up print data for flyers correctly
Set up your print data with 2 mm bleed, a 4 mm safety margin and 300 dpi in CMYK colour mode. This avoids white edges after trimming.
What to look out for:
We do not check spelling. The optional data check reviews resolution, size, bleed and font embedding. Find out which files we accept under file formats for print data.
What to look out for:
- Bleed: backgrounds extend 2 mm beyond the trimmed size. An A5 flyer (14.8 × 21 cm) therefore has a file size of 15.2 × 21.4 cm.
- Safety margin: keep text and logos at least 4 mm away from the trimmed edge.
- Colour profile: FOGRA51 (PSO Coated v3) for coated papers, FOGRA52 (PSO Uncoated v3) for uncoated papers.
- Fonts: embed them fully or convert them to outlines.
- Reading direction: portrait and landscape are both possible. Set up the pages so that nothing appears upside down.
